Desktop Support

Desktop Support tasks handled by VUIT (submit a ticket) :

  • Ordering of computers, though LTDS begins the process (see below)
  • Imaging computers
  • Imaging circulating computers
  • Managing the Deep Freeze server
  • Deploying computers to staff
  • Support for computer applications not specific to the library (Office365, Web browsers, Windows Login, etc.)
  • Support for computer hardware, operating systems, and applications

Desktop Support tasks handled by LTDS (submit an INFORM):

  • Ordering new computers and hardware (LTDS orders these through VUIT
    • Final preparation of circulating laptops and distribution to libraries (adding Alma, assigning location, etc.)
  • Support for library specific software (ILLiad, Alma, Able, etc.)
  • Support for peripherals (monitors, scanners, barcode readers, etc.)
  • Replacement of peripherals (often in coordination with VUIT)
  • Support for specialized equipment and printers not supported by VUIT or Card Services
