LTDS January 12th – 18th 2020

LTDS spent significant time during the week of January 12th preparing for the ILLiad upgrade and revising websites — both public and staff focused.   LTDS continued to work on various log term projects with the anticipation of new projects moving forward soon.  Various other activities include:

    • course reserve work order process refinement and discussion
    • user issues in Alma -as well as the proxy server
    • worked on enumeration issue and methods to automate the corrections

    • applying patched to library servers
    • Deploying new equipment for new staff
    • Revising deployment strategy for SCCM client
    • Resolved issue with EBL training room computers

    • Reviewing issues with deposits from Vireo to VUIR.
    • Discussing process of adding materials to Fedora that will also need to be streamed

LTDS January 5th – 11th 2020

Happy New Year!

The LTDS team were all back this week and eager to resume working on current projects as well as looking forward to new opportunities in 2020.   It was also great to have our students return from winter break!

LTDS worked on several projects and issues during the week including:

    • Moved forward with the deepfreeze project (this will update the clients on all of the computers and provide a better management tool).

    • Added PBcore to the schema’s available for Fedora ingest

LTDS December 8th – 14th 2019

LTDS utilized the week to work on various projects that are projected to be for the spring semester.  The team also responded to several desktop issues due to illness and the students being out for the holiday. In addition,  the team spent time preparing systems for the holiday break and maximizing availability of resources to users.

LTDS spent much of the week working on digital projects and preparing for the winter break including potential upgrades.  The team worked with VUIT to migrate an Oracle database to a new system.  This was the last item that needed to occur for us to completely delete the old Acorn server!

Happy Thanksgiving

Many in LTDS took time off this week to spend with family, friends, and stand in line for Friday.

LTDS November 17th 2019 – November 23rd 2019

The team was able to complete a few projects this week as well as prepare for an abbreviated work week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

LTDS November 10th 2019 – November 16th 2019

LTDS spend time during the week to migrate it’s internal communication from Slack to Microsoft Teams.  This included significant with with Flow to provide access to the RSS feeds and changing habits as far as communication.    In addition,  the team was able to continue work on various projects including the items below.

The team enjoyed another week of catching up on various issues and planning for retiring older VMs.  This week, among other items the team worked on setting up two new VMs as future hosts for migrated library applications.

LTDS October 27th – November 2nd 2019

Several team members were out of the office during the week for meetings or PTO, but the group continued to review INFORM tickets and responded as quickly as possible.    The team also reviewed progress of projects related to systems with older operating systems and began discussing communication needs around the migrations.
